Is there anything to stop you using watercolour paint from a tube straight into where the pan sits.
The travel box comes with empty pans which you can either fill with your own colours or pop our and replace with prefilled pans.
When it comes to squeezing out your own colours some pigments will dry differently to others. Some will self-level, dry easily and become hard, others will dry and become hard but also crack, some colours will not self-level and may retain the shape of the paint from the tube, others may separate from the binder and some may remain sticky. None of this effect the rewetting properties of the paint but it is important you are aware that there are differences.
I would test with little dots of colour on a plastic surface to see which colours dry as you need them to for travel.
