" A sketchbook tells the story of a days painting, a reminder of more than just a single moment, but how things change over time and your thoughts and responses to it. My full day art workshops are all about about sketching and painting sketchbook pages in pencil, pen and watercolour, with tips on how to get a drawing done quickly and accurately in a changing scene. At my next one, at Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens near York, we will be painting small location scenes in the gardens, surrounded by details and notes. As well as the plants, trees, pond and meadow, there is the opportunity to sketch the resident chickens, doves, guinea fowl and other animal life to animate your sketchbook pages. I will also offer advice on what makes a lightweight, ergonomic and sketcher friendly field kit. In addition, I teach watercolour and other water based media such as gouache and acrylic at weekly classes. A picture or still life will be supplied to highlight a particular subject or technique which I will demonstrate in short sessions during the class. The class members will be encouraged to interpret it in their own style, with one to one tuition. The classes are lively and has a Facebook group so members can post their work and ask questions."
