  • Description

In my teaching I aim to help students get to grips with the basics of colour theory, colour mixing, papers, perspective, composition etc, which they can build on to develop a sound knowledge base. I encourage experimentation and "having a go" - after all it is only a piece of paper that might be wasted if it goes horribly wrong, which it won't ! I now run art classes ( beginners groups and improvers group) in my own studio at Weybread, near Harleston, Norfolk, and I also run day workshops there, sometimes on a specific topic and others as developmental sessions where students can work on their own topics at their own pace and with guidance from me. In East Anglia we have a wealth of subject matter: sea, skies, boats, harbours, rivers, villages, towns - to name but a few, and in the summer months I organise painting trips for small groups. If you would like more information please contact me. Issy

    The following testimonials were received:

"I've been going to Issy's classes and workshops for 18 months and have learned so much from her! Techniques, materials, colour mixing, composition to name a few. Mainly watercolours, but have tried pastels, oils, and even lino cut printing. She has a knack of teaching without making it obvious, it's always relaxing, fun, inspiring and confidence building".  Belinda S

I have had two drawing lessons with Issy and can't believe how much I have learnt and achieved. It was really good to try different drawing mediums which in turn took me out of my comfort zone. The sessions were friendly, fun and confidence building. Avril Y

"Having mentioned to Issy that I had been thinking of "trying my hand at painting", she immediately encouraged me to make a start by setting me up with paints, brushes and paper . I was amazed that after a "one to one" session I went home with a piece of art work I was truly proud of. I now attend her classes and have found her easy and friendly teaching style inspirational. She is always open to try out different techniques, styles and mediums. She is a gifted artist who takes pleasure in teaching others to find out the pure joy of watercolour painting." Kate W

"I started going to Art classes with Issy about 18 months ago. I was a complete beginner and I found her teaching style really helpful which has enabled me to progress. Within the class there are a range of abilities and Issy is able to adapt her style to ensure we all get the support we need individually. I also attend workshop days that Issy puts on and have found that on these days I have longer to develop my skills and always come away with something I'm pleased with and having learnt some new skills."
