I enjoy Demonstrating Painting and Drawing Skills to Art Groups in different mediums,be it Watercolour, Oils, Pastels and Graphite Pencil skills.

No matter how experienced you are as an artist with someone else to view of your work they can see and help to correct those small details to improve the finished image. Quite often I can see that one of my pictures is not quite right but can not alw
ays put my finger on how to correct it, with the help of a friends view on it, between us we can usually find the fault, none of us are perfect.

I have had a number of students for either individual or class lessons, for their enjoyment or to help them through Exams.

Workshops are another way of helping and interesting fellow artists to try out different techniques and approaches, to help them to viewing the World Around Us Everyday.

As a tutor I believe that the most important aspect of a course is that the tutor is a practising artist, able to convey their own excitement and enthusiasm about painting to their students. As a practising artist, they should be able to give "hands on demonstrations" backed up by their own-in depth knowledge of different approaches to painting, painting techniques, and the components of picture m aking.

I believe that it is important for tutors to be adaptable to the differing levels of ability and experience of different students, and to be sensitive to each student's own strengths, needs and particular vision.

I am pleased to be able to offer one to one tuition in traditional landscape watercolour painting. The lessons can be at my studio here in Holbeach or at your own home. I am able to create a bespoke course of lessons tailored to the student's particular requirements. Every level of ability can be catered for from absolute beginner up to the confident artist who requires help with specific subjects , for instance helping with courage when painting outdoors.

The first step would be for you to contact me to arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements and aims for your painting. We can find out what materials you will need and be ready for action when the time comes for your first lesson.
The Lessons would usually involve a degree of demonstration by me and then guided work by the student with the aim of having something worthwhile to show for the day. I would recommend two hour sessions in order to get some work done.

I have a flat rate for all of my personal tuition of £20.00 per hour.

I am able to supply all the materials you will need at a reduced rate.

Most of my paintings are inspired by the British countryside and it's wildlife. I use a whole variety of techniques depending on the effect I am hoping to achieve, ranging from pure acrylics through to mixed media, pastel, graphite, and pen, ink and wash.

I also use the materials and techniques of medieval painters to produce work inspired by illuminated manuscripts with 24 carat gold and pigm

I enjoy teaching, and feedback on my workshops has always been 100% positive, with lovely comments like 'Superb - could not have been better'. Do contact me via email to discuss what I may be able to offer your group.

Several members of my family are teachers, so I was aware from quite an early age that this was a profession to be avoided at all costs! However, since I have been working as a professional full-time artist I have come into contact with so many people keen to learn about the way I work, and I have discovered what a pleasure it is to teach those who genuinely want to learn. Also, how much I can lea rn from others!

My own style of work is generally very meticulous and planned. It is based on a thorough understanding of the subjects I am rendering and the materials I'm working with. I explore through the process of drawing, mentally plotting subjects in three dimensions, so naturally I view drawing as a fundamental skill, and being able to draw well underpins everything I do and everything I teach.

I paint with watercolour, and for me a painting can take days, or even weeks to complete - depending on the size and complexity of the piece. The process is one of continual assessment and re-assessment, balancing tones and shapes, building form and colour in layers until I know I have captured the subject of the work in a believable way.

Of course this is just my way of working that has evolved over time to suit me personally, and when I'm working with students I can only show them what I do and why I do it. I also teach them to develop their observational skills, to learn to think like artists, and to develop their own individual ways of working so that they can express themselves through their artwork. I can't show anyone a rapid route to artistic success, but I can turn on a few lights, open a few doors - and I am constantly thrilled to see students make great strides along their learning curves after seemingly-small things have been pointed out to them.

The knowledge I feel able to pass on to others is in drawing and watercolour technique, but I do experiment with other media myself, and encourage students to do likewise. I teach adults through workshops, demonstrations and individual tuition. Those who come to me for one-to-one teaching are generally interested in watercolour master-classes in portraiture; others want to know how to draw horses accurately and sympathetically; and there are those who just want a troubleshooting session where I can assess problems and offer remedies for them.

    Wednesday 10.00 to 12.00
    6.30pm to 8.30pm

    Thursday 10.00 to 12.00
    1.00pm to 3.00pm

Class sizes are limited to 8 and the cost is £10 per lesson

I cater for both beginners and improvers. With the beginners I go right from the very basics of watercolour painting over a period of time. The improvers can take pa
rt in this, and I would recommend it before going on to improving individual techniques.
The Due to popular demand, I am going to run a LIFE CLASS once a month. It will work in conjunction with the Saturday workshops that also run once a month and so the two will alternate. If you are interested in either please contact me and I will supply you with a list of dates.
The Saturday indoor watercolour workshop starts at 10.00am and we go through the basics of watercolour painting, working on linear perspective, aerial perspective, colour mixing, the key measure and tone control. At 1.30pm we have a break and a light lunch and then at 2.00pm we start a painting either from a ready to paint sketch of mine or if the student is confident they can sketch their own from my template and we will work together as a paint along(I paint a bit, you paint a bit). We finish at 6.00pm and can enjoy looking at our finished work. If you have never painted before dont worry I will take you through the basics and painting materials can be hired for the day.

My aim is to introduce the new starter to watercolours in a steady and relaxed way, I find people adapt better if all pressure is removed from them and they are given time to evolve. With a max number of students being seven I am able to give each individual all the time they need to finish their painting.
Improvers are also catered for on these workshops and if they are confident to do their own sketching they can either bring their own photograph or sketch one of my sketches.

    Margaret Barrett

    Market Bosworth Leicestershire, CV13 0PB
I'm a qualified art teacher. I enjoy meeting other artists and helping people achieve pleasure and success with painting and drawing.

I give demonstrations, talks and workshops to art societies and offer private lessons for one or two people at a time from my studio.

My demonstrations and workshops cover a range of subjects. But I specially love encouraging painters to work from what they s
ee in front of them. So my tuition is often based on portraits with a sitter, a still life of plants and flowers (probably using querky and unexpected objects), or developing a painting from notes and sketches.

If a painting group arranges an out-of-doors venue, I'm delighted to be a tutor and advisor.

I give private lessons for one or two people from my studio,(and in my large garden when the weather is suitable). In 2015 I'm planning to arrange short courses of lessons from home. Please look out details after the new year.

Do please phone or email for a friendly discussion about tuition.

I am also tutoring several painting holidays at exciting and varied locations for 2015:

    The Spirit
    of Portugal in Watercolour'
Painting holiday with 'Art in the Algarve' - April 29th - May 6th 2015

Olhao presents the watercolour painter with a wonderful variety of exciting
and colourful subject matter. On this course Paul will guide you through
his techniques for capturing the rustic buildings, vibrant markets, waterfront moorings
and spirit of the place in a loose, impressionistic style.

With studio lessons and plenty of on-site sketching and painting, there will also be advice
on selecting subjects, composition, adding figures to a scene and creating a
sense of light, mood and atmosphere in your work. Aimed at artists who are confident with the watercolour basics and wish to develop their plein air strategy and a looser style.

Organised by 'Art in the Algarve', an established company with a strong reputation
for exceptional art holidays, please see their website for further details and
    booking information.

Join Paul for a wonderful painting week in the Parc Naturel du Perigord-Limousin, South West France.
Surrounded by truly inspiring subject matter, this painting holiday will focus on developing your confidence and creative approach to plein air painting, as well as producing on site sketches that can be used for reference to paint from later in the studio.

Paul is an award winning artist and encouraging tutor, and teaches a painting strategy based on the
key principles of good design, sound drawing, creative control of the watercolour basics and expressive
brush work. We all see the world around us differently and whilst Paul favours a loose, impressionistic approach, these principles apply to any style and he is keen to help you develop and express your own creative vision.

With instructive demonstrations and personal guidance, he will offer advice on choosing subjects, composition and tonal sketches, as well as techniques for capturing the light, mood, atmosphere and character of the rural villages, local market and beautiful landscape.

Please see for details of the venue, prices and booking information.

I am delighted to have been asked by ALPHA PAINTING HOLIDAYS to tutor a week in the historic city of Wells and the surrounding Somerset landscape.

From the Bishop's Palace with its tranquil moat and reflections, to the beautiful rural settings of Cheddar, Priddy and Kilver Court, Wells is a superb location for a creative painting holiday.

Combining informative studio lessons with plenty of on-site sketching and painting, there will be advice on choosing subjects, composition and tonal sketches, as well as techniques for capturing the atmospheric effects of light and shade, trees, skies, water and reflections, simplifying architecture and adding figures to a scene.

Accommodation for the course will be at 'The Swan Hotel' which has a unique charm, offering guests modern amenities in a beautiful traditional setting with a homely feel. The hotel is steeped in 600 years of history and is in the heart of the historic City of Wells, yet set back in a quiet street with views of the Cathedral and within walking distance of amenities and painting locations.

    Single Occupancy - £695
    Double Occupancy - £650
    Non Painting Partner - £435
    Non-Residential - £440

For further details and to book your place please contact ALPHA PAINTING HOLIDAYS
    through their website:

Join Paul for a relaxing and creative week of plein air watercolour, capturing the light,
mood and atmosphere of this wonderful and inspiring location.

From beautiful Spanish landscapes to colourful street scenes, Xativa Castle and the
vibrant local market, Paul will guide you through his techniques for capturing the
spirit of Spain in a loose, impressionistic style.

With regular demonstrations, studio lessons and on-site sketching and painting,
there will also be advice on selecting subjects, composition and adding figures
to a scene to create a sense of scale and movement.

This course is ideal for artists who are confident with the watercolour basics
and wish to develop their plein air strategy and a looser style.

Whilst some materials will be provided by the venue, it's always wise to go
prepared with what you are used to using. For those who require some guidance here,

During the course of the year a substantial number of genre and mediums are covered. To further enhance learning The Society also h
olds a critique evening where a professional artist will give advice on member's own work.

Members of The Society hold workshops and classes in their own right and information of these is passed on at the monthly meetings. See our website for links to classes in the area.

    .................... CLASSES - JANUARY TO APRIL 2017 ............................

My classes are in small. relaxed and friendly groups and the lessons are
mainly on drawing skills and watercolour techniques, although other media are often used along with the watercolour. I don't do any teaching in oils as the long drying time and clearing up problems make it impractical for a two hour lesson.
As a trained art teacher I know the value of thorough planning, preparation and organisation in teaching.
I arrange my classes in 10 lesson courses. Each course has a theme. The theme may be subject matter, media used, inspiration from a famous painter, techniques or a particular location. (Themes have included, "People and Portraits", "Interiors and Light", "Line and Wash", "John Yardley", "The Yorkshire Coast", "Mixing Media with Watercolour", "Edward Seago". "Perspective", "Atmosphere and Mood, "Buildings and Street Scenes").
Seven lessons of the 10 lesson course are directed by me with demonstrations, examples, worksheets and written information as required. In the last 3 lessons the "students" put into practice what they have learned by doing their own original work based on, or inspired by, the current theme and I give individual help and advice. For this reason I only have about half a dozen people in a class, so that I can give everyone plenty of individual attention. I have beginners, improvers and proficient artists in my groups and I aim to help each person to work at their own pace to improve their skills, become more confident and really enjoy their painting.

The lessons are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from September to December, January to March and from April to July'

    Mariana Robinson

    St Briavels Gloucestershire, GL15 6TQ
Mariana Robinson has been teaching watercolour for over twenty years. She lives and works in the beautiful Wye Valley between England and Wales within easy driving of the M4/M5 corridor.

Mariana gives freely of her knowledge of watercolour and teaches every level from beginners to accomplished artists. She runs regular one-day, workshops and is available for PRIVATE TUITION (one to one or one
to two) for those just starting with watercolour. A half day or whole day of private tuition will help anyone who is afraid to tackle this difficult medium and allows the student to learn about materials, approaches, brush techniques and the thought processes needed to succeed.

Mariana believes in teaching the how, why and what of watercolour rather than asking students to "copy". Painting techniques are quite different from drawing techniques.

Students should bring their own materials to courses and a kit list will be provided. Don't worry if you don't have everything you need. For complete beginners it is best to just to come along with whatever kit you've already bought and Mariana will help you choose the right brushes, paints and papers that will work best for you.

Create beautiful bright, colourful paintings and avoid "mud"!!

We do not teach at this art club.

You can, however, practice portrait and still life. We set up sessions amoungst our members, normally each month, for portrait and still life.

This can be of great interest to portrait painters, as the cost of models can be quite expensive.

We have member artists at our club who teach acrylic and water colour.

We are also in contact with other artists
    for life drawings and similar.

We also have demonstrations from professional artists and all are welcomed to these evenings, including visitors.

While chairing the South West London Art group , I helped with workshops on various subjects, and now I give workshops/residencies in the Pyrenees. This has been in French so far, but there could be accomadation locally if anyone wanted a far flung venue-As part of my residency in Speyside with WDCS , I tried to also spread the message of conserving whales and dolphins, while painting with them as part of the requirements for my awarded course and now , if viewers see their site, our government has plans to destroy the habitat of the models in my paintig of them,so do sign their petition; its online.
Some years ago, I did a degree in Econ.[govt] L.S.E. so I can , with the help of the Residency course, hopefully prduce a rather unusual teaching style.
I shall be teaching in France again next year.

I believe that you need skills to be able to produce high standard art work.
For this reason I concentrate on teaching watercolour techniques. Once these have been mastered you can then begin to develop your own style of painting.

Do not expect to create a masterpiece or even a recognisable picture in the first few weeks. It is an arduous journey to painting self-sufficiency. However with the
right skills, sensitively taught and dutifully practised between lessons you will be amazed at what you can achieve. Read More

    2-day Monday 3 - Tuesday 4 September 2018
This workshop will focus on the unique challenges of plein air painting. The ability to see and simplify, to organise the subject matter, and to present it in a simple and straightforward manner. The workshop will include demonstrations as well as individual attention. You will need to be fairly active and mobile.

    2-day Thursday 6 ? Friday 7 December 2018

Some people paint abstracts entirely from their imaginations, but having something ?real? as the starting point gives a direction to start working in, to kick start your imagination. We will work on some techniques in acrylics on Day 1 and begin working on a ?design? for our finished work. Whether you are already working in landscape and want a little more edge to your work or are trying to find an approach to abstraction, this workshop should help you.

    2-day Tuesday 6 - Wednesday 7 February 2018
    2-day Tuesday 2 ? Wednesday 3 October 2018
Concentrating on the use of colour first and foremost ? Using a limited and expressive colour palette, exploring a range of colour combinations using a loose and free approach to create a considered painting in acrylics.

    2-day Wednesday 4 ? Thursday 5 April 2018
This workshop is about putting your interpretation on the subject by painting on a coloured ground and working in many thin layers, ?scumbling? the paint. It?s an extremely exciting and satisfying way of working and suits all levels of ability from newcomers to acrylics to exhibiting artists! Ideal if you want to loosen up and be more expressive.

    2-day Wednesday 21 ? Thursday 22 November 2018
The aim of this workshop is to encourage you to break away from the conventional approach to painting and explore ?alternative? methods of picture making. Drawing and painting with mountboard, rollering, spattering and palette knife painting. A creative and liberating experience!

    2-day Thursday 28 ? Friday 29 June 2018
Create texture in your painting to add heaps of interest... incorporating collage from the outset and layering paint to create the desired effect. Experimental and energizing with results that will hold the viewers attention for longer.
The 2-day workshop will give you time to develop compositional planning and ideas, analyse mark making and finishing off a painting. Painting for your own inspiration.

    2-day Wednesday 10 ? Thursday 11 January 2018
This workshop will encourage you to stop fiddling and loosen up your watercolour landscapes! A series of stimulating demonstrations and exercises in composition, the expressive use of colour, pigment application and dynamic ways of applying paint, all designed to encourage well-planned yet spontaneous watercolour paintings.

    2-day Wednesday 25 ? Thursday 26 April 2018
Concentrating on the subject of stormy and dramatic skies and reflections, we will consider colour mixing and layering to create glowing and luminous results!

    2-day Thursday 1 ? Friday 2 November 2018
We will set out with the clear intention of incorporating texture into our work - texture/modeling paste, tissue paper, sand - anything to give another dimension to our work and exciting, expressive results!

    2-day Tuesday 27 ? Wednesday 28 March 2018
We will be tackling trees in the landscape, analyzing shapes, colours to create distance and perspective, getting away from painting actual trees but mark making. Experimenting in watercolour techniques and acrylics with many demo?s and hands-on painting.

    2-day Wednesday 6 ? Thursday 7 June 2018
Very often tangled brambles, a busy hedgerow or a complicated foreground generally, can deter you from picking up your paintbrush! This workshop concentrates on turning such subject matter into an interesting foreground, almost making it the focal point with lots of interest. Create movement and energy in a painting by incorporating soft pastel, oil pastel, ink and/or texture with a semi-abstract approach.
?Carole?s positive, enthusiastic & fearless approach inspires everyone to paint with endless possibilities.?
?The mixture of outdoor sketching and studio work was ideal.?
?Great location - venue and scenery, friendly group and lovely informative bubbly tutor!?
?Many thanks Carole for an inspirational few days in your company. You are a brilliant and inspirational tutor and your enthusiasm is infectious.?
?The workshop was beautifully organised, well constructed and challenging. Carole is not only an outstanding artist she is a skilled, sensitive teacher helping each member of the group achieve work they could be proud of.?
?Best things about the holiday... Carole?s enthusiasm, guidance, learning new techniques, colours, honest feedback, pushing us to try new things and humour!
?Carole demonstrates all her working methods.

Details for all holidays will be available in due course. Please let Carole know if you are interested for advance notice.

    Tiverton Devon, EX16 6QP
I don't consider myself a 'teacher'. I share my knowledge, experience and techniques with others, guiding them with the methods that work for me, but always keen for people to discover their own talents. My recent workshops have included an Introduction to Portraits and Introduction to Wildife painting. These were one day work shops, so concentrated on getting results fast. I am very much about fi ring people up and delight in seeing them produce work that is better than they imagined they would do!

For a more considered approach, I also offer one to one tuition. This could be in portraiture, wildlife, pet portraits, landscape or seascapes. I can even help people with caricatures!

My preferred mediums are oils, pastels and acrylics but have experience in watercolour and gouache as well. I ask my students what they hope to gain from their time with me and listen to what they say. I hope we can work together one day to find out what further talents you have to discover!

Please contact me if you are interested in tuition, workshops or demonstrations at or on 01884 242531

Most of my work is in watercolour or acrylic although I have run a few oil workshops in the past. I try to link the process or skill I am trying to teach to something the student knows already like carrots for painted people and figure of 8 on it's side for a boat. Very simple but it works every time and gives people of all ages an instant reward for their efforts. Read More

SMALL GROUP 1 day WORKSHOPS - From £95 per person
    How many people?
I offer themed workshops in small groups of up to 6 people. This means that everyone gets to have quality time and tuition throughout the day and everyone can see what's going on when I demonstrate a technique.

    How will I learn?
As a qualified trainer, I like to use the 70:20:10 method which means that for around 10% o
f the course time you will be watching me demonstrate or explain a technique, around 20% of your learning will be done by seeing how others approach their subject, but for a whopping 70% of the course you will be learning by putting your new-found skills and techniques into practice with tweaks and guidance from me.

    What is included?
All of the materials that you need will be included with your workshop - for details go to my website and download the course outline.
If you plan to have a go at airbrushing I recommend that you bring your own airbrush to the wildlife workshops, but I do have a selection of airbrushes that you can try if you are just starting out.
...and of course like all my tuition sessions, we include a fab Jilly lunch!

Book a place from just £95 per person
If you prefer private tuition that's OK too. Just drop me a line or give me a call and we can work out exactly what you need.

If you want to accelerate your development as a painter, get yourself a painting coach.

In business, the professions and the public sector and in sport the value of having a personal coach is now seen as vital for career development.

    So, what is a coach?

A coach will assess your individual requirements and work with you on a skill development programme tai
lored to the needs of each individual.
I am a watercolour painting coach who specialises in landscape painting.

Coaching in watercolour painting is ideally conducted on a one-to-one basis but a small group of three maximum may want to share the experience and the costs. The coach will help you to develop your painting skills through a series of planned activities and will identify where you could develop new painting skills and will work with you to achieve these new skills.

The advantage of coaching over painting courses is:

    Paul Ranson

    Worthing West Sussex, BN14 0BJ
Paul teaches with wife, Terri Robertson at a variety of locations across Sussex & Hampshire. Mainly using village halls with good disabled facilities, in pretty or unusual locations, the classes are close to the following towns: Romsey, Botley and Portsmouth in Hampshire; Horsham, Bognor Regis and Worthing in West Sussex; Forest Row and Battle in East Sussex.

Regular Classes are held at weekend
s from 10:00am to 4:30pm at all venues. Terri produces a Newsletter & Booking form which contains a picture of the painting that will be taught at each class. Paul & Terri teach a painting step-by-step throughout the day until it is finished. Everyone leaves the classroom with a fantastic painting - even if it is their first one. Often, people are amazed by their own capability - they did't realise that painting could be so easy and this much fun.

Each class costs £45 per person all inclusive. After a space is booked and paid for, the only thing a student needs to bring is a packed lunch and a sense of humour. They teach on canvas (usually 16" x 20") and use Bob Ross paints, brushes and materials. The painting on the day is taken from the TV show "The Joy of Painting", so that if people want to start painting at home, they have a lot of Bob Ross TV Series books, videos and of course the TV programme to help them.

The emphasis of the classes is fun, and learning how to load the brushes correctly with the paint so that you can get all the effects on the canvas that Bob achieves on the show. By the end of the class, you have a beautiful painting that you will be proud to hang on your wall. Have a look at their main website to see what paintings they are teaching at the moment.

    Dee Cowell

    Wimborne Dorset, BH21 2ND
I love teaching and although I am a retired art teacher, I still teach in Ferndown, Dorset on Wednesday and Friday mornings and in Wokingham, Berkshire on Thursday mornings. My delightful students are mostly retired people who would like to learn to draw and paint.
We always start with a bit of drawing to build confidence with their drawing skills then move on to painting. I demonstrate a differ
ent painting technique every week and my students either do something similar or work on their own projects.
I am always thrilled with the results that they get.

A few years ago I launched online art lessons at
for students who would like to study but cannot attend lessons. You will also find video clips of me painting on YOUTUBE and in 2015 I hope to provide more online tuition

I also demonstrate to various Art Societies and enjoy the challenge of producing a painting, teaching and entertaining a crowd all at the same time.

My goal is to offer even more inspiration to students who would like to explore the hidden artist within themselves

Rebecca runs short introductory courses on the traditional technique of egg tempera painting, as used in the early Renaissance and in the Orthodox Church today for painting Icons.

Egg tempera is made of pigments mixed with egg yolk and water and is a strong, durable paint for use on plaster (gesso), paper or card. Students learn about the various properties of pigments, how to make and apply th
e paint, and some basic gilding. For each course, gesso panels and most materials will be provided. It is intended that by the end of each course students will have completed a small painted panel. Each course is suitable both for beginners and those with some painting experience

Rebecca Merry is a painter who trained at the Royal College of Art and now works mainly in egg tempera. She is a member of the Society of Tempera Painters and in 2004 worked with Rolf Harris on the BBC 1 programme

"Although I had painted in the past I had used acrylic as my media and had painted in an abstract style. I had recently started using watercolour, trying out landscapes and seascapes. I really wanted to know how to go about constructing flowers in watercolour. I had read various books but felt that I would benefit from having some tuition and found Cheryl on the SAA website. She came to my house and I had 4 hours of nonstop learning. I learnt how to construct a drawing, the prospective and little tips on how to hide the pencil lines. This was very useful as I could see how to get started. We discussed colour, painting techniques and shadows which was an area which I had struggled, in the past. I then painted my selected flower under her patient guidance. I was so very pleased with the results and for 3-4 days following the tuition I had the confidence to paint several more flowers."

I found Cheryl's teaching technique suited me down to the ground. She was personable, concise and knowledgeable showing each technique and answering the questions I had. I felt that I got more than the ability to paint flowers, I learned how to draw all over again. I would not hesitate to recommend her as she has truly helped me onto my road with watercolour." August 2013

"I thoroughly enjoy Cheryl's botanical workshops at Barrow on Trent, and in particular being one of a small group of eight participants in a relaxed learning environment. The themed workshops are very well planned and some lovely botanical materials are provided. Cheryl?s excellent teaching skills, combined with her professional demonstrations, guided practice and reinforcement, produce a well rounded day. Cheryl enthusiastically demonstrates techniques in both drawing and the use of watercolour and shows how these techniques combine to show the colour and form of her particular style of portraying natural subjects. Cheryl is, however, very flexible and adjusts to my specific learning needs as a beginner with a medical condition, as well as coping with more experienced students alongside myself. I have attended many of Cheryl?s workshops and eagerly look forward to the next one." - July 2012

"Many thanks for the photograph you sent of the snapdragon. Thank you also for a great workshop which I enjoyed very much -a lovely relaxing atmosphere, an excellent tutor - all in all, a marvellous day watercolour painting. I can thoroughly recommend a workshop with Cheryl." - 2012

"Cheryl Wilbraham is a notable painter. Whether her works in botanical art are life size or enlarged they have impact , are lovely to look at and have great wall appeal . A respected teacher of flower painting, she is a good demonstrator and gives hands-on advice and guidance at her workshops. There is always a colourful array of plants and flowers for her students to select specimens from to draw and paint . The chance to join one of Cheryl's classes is an enjoyable experience and one which I am happy to recommend and by the way, there is soft background music to listen to which is so relaxing and is a bonus !" - 2012

"I first heard about Cheryl when my grandmother went to one of her art lessons and told me about the techniques she had learnt. I was really hoping to have some art lessons over the summer and from what my grandmother had said I thought Cheryl would be the perfect fit. As I haven?t ever done much watercolour before I really wanted to lean the techniques. My lesson with Cheryl was very enjoyable and informative, as she took me through all the techniques that she thought would benefit me. She really took the time to get to know how I like to work so we could make the most of the time we had for the lesson. I would highly recommend going to have a lesson with Cheryl and I will be going back again soon."

"Having just bought a fabulous watercolour painting of Anemones by Cheryl Wilbraham, cannot stop looking at it, it?s lovely, and I?m thrilled to bits with it. I have also had a painting lesson from Cheryl in July, bought for me by my son and daughter in law, and found Cheryl charming and very easy to learn from and inspired me to carry on painting." - 2012.

My ideas for my art classes are for everyone to enjoy the class, finish a picture every week (hopefully), have a few hours of total relaxation and a cup of tea thrown in, made by me..To learn something new every week and to have confidence in their ability to do anything they put their minds to, with a little help from me.
I want people to realise that they can paint, even if they cannot draw wel
    l. I use cheat sheets (traceable drawings), not always but I feel that if you want to learn to draw you can go to school to do that, my class is about enjoyment and not Artistic Certificates.
I promise to show you how to paint a great picture with the least fuss and bother, no suffering for your art.
It doesnt matter if you have never painting before or if you have been painting for years and fancy trying acrylics, the classes I run can help you do what you want but with some fun thrown in.

''I have just spent a wonderful day of painting with Becky Samuelson.
Having not painted for a while I had lost much needed confidence which was instantly restored with the expert help from Becky.
I learnt many new brush stokes and techniques during the day working with both acrylic and oils and came away very happy with my creations.
I would not hesitate to recommend Becky more highly''.

I'm delighted to be able to start the new year as a Watercolour Ambassador for the SAA. I know only too well the importance of getting your hands on good quality, reasonably priced materials particularly when trying to grasp the art of watercolours. The SAA own brand watercolour gives the strength of pigment along with good flow and transparency to give you the best experience possible at an early stage and throughout. There's nothing worse than struggling to follow a tutorial and your paint just won't come out the same as your teacher.
"Fun & Informative Painting" is my company motto. I am a qualified, experienced and I think.. a Friendly and approachable teacher, who packs lots of demonstrations into my sessions to help inspire my learners.

I deliver Painting Classes/short courses in the Tyneside area. My regular painting classes have become a bit of a social outlet, a bit of 'me time' in the busy lives of those who take part. They are FUN!! and informative with regular demonstrations, cups of tea, always biscuits and sometimes cake.
The members are given the opportunity to paint outdoors in the summertime. Its all part of the painting experience

I deliver Art Society Painting Workshops & demonstrations across the Northern Counties, Border regions, Midlands & Scotland working in Watercolours & Acrylic and Mixed media. I use Creative and traditional approaches to Watercolour painting and demonstrate in Acrylic, Water-mixable oil and Mixed Media too.

All workshops can include THE FUNNY BRUSH techniques those funny but fabulous little brushes that I import from Lesnick Art products from Nevada,USA

Delivering Art as Therapy has become an important part of my teaching work. Art is a wonderful therapy to us all, my Workshops & classes cater for all abilities. I also work with schools and community groups which cater for those with special needs.

For all enquiries, drop me an email or simply call and ask. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Ludlow Shropshire, SY8 1LY
I run regular weekly workshops called 'Painting my Way'.The workshops are run on a Saturday and run from 10am -2pm ish !
I teach in oils, acrylics and melted wax..
There is a wide variety of methods used in the workshops including wet on wet oil.

The paint is very easy to blend on the canvas and beautiful effects happen in the blink of an eye,and before you know it you have a beautiful finis
    hed painting!

I go through each painting in small steps , showing you how to load the brush and how to apply it to the canvas, so there isnt a lot to remember at a time.

Everything you need is supplied by me from brushes, canvas and even the aprons.

I have had people from as far afield as Ireland ,Germany and Norway come to paint with me.

There are some wonderful places to stay in the area if you want to make a weekend of it and we are renowned for our food around here.

    Please check out my website
for the latest photos of my students and their paintings!

Ludlow is famous for its food--and there is lots to do for non -painting partners..

Everyone goes away with a completed painting in around 4 hours and most people come back again and again and bring friends and family with them!.I charge just £35 for most workshops--which is inclusive of all materials needed and all the tea, coffee and biscuits you can manage!!
The price for the workshop has been £35 since I started teaching over 10 years ago.
Some of the workshops are a higher price as they are on a much bigger canvas- eg the 'Yesterday' workshop is on a 40in x 12in canvas and is £45

I am a fully qualified tutor mainly teaching from my own premises in Derbyshire where i have a gallery overlooking the canal in the grounds of Moira Furnace Museum. Here, i teach watercolour classes and drawing classes on a daily basis. I also teach on a private basis for art groups, W.I. meetings and corporate events throughout the Country. I have also completed a series of mosaics situated in th e reading gardens at Markfield library and Newbold Verdon and now teach classes in this exciting medium-my most recent commissions were for North West Leicestershire District Council where a large mosaic is situated in their offices at Coalville and three more are positioned in Coalville Park. Something else i am thoroughly enjoying at the moment, is teaching classes on how to make silver jewellery using silver clay, this includes keepsake fingerprints. Also, a professional muralist having completed many hand painted wall murals in children's bedrooms, playrooms and nurseries, i regularly complete commissions using painting techniques on furniture. I now organize painting trips where the first trip in April 2013 was to the South of France and was a great success therefore we returned in 2014 and 2015. I offer painting weekends in Derbyshire so please contact for more detailed information. Read More

Students enjoy the Landscape, which also includes Seascape and complete their painting in just a few hours, so that it is ready to take home.

Floral is also very popular and the effects can be magical, especially with the beautiful coloured mixtures.

A step by step demonstration is given by the tutor with the aid of a camera, projector and screen, so that detailed work is enlarged for easier visibility. After each stage, everyone have the opportunity to follow along and complete that stage, with the tutor on hand to go around to offer each individual encouragement, advice and some ?one to one? tuition on their own artwork. This is followed by a demonstration of the next stage, while the group takes a break from painting to watch the next stage of the demonstration unfolds. The class follows each demonstration, with the practical task of taking their very own painting toward completion, under the artist?s knowledgeable guidance.

Designed to inform, raise confidence in ability and to enabled student to get a result by the end of the day. You will find not only do you complete a painting, but you will be able to put into practice what you have learned in all your own future artwork. There are also numerous tricks, tips and techniques to be learned. You can benefit from Allan?s professional insights.
