    Still Life and Soup 
    January 17th 9.45 - 2.15 pm

    Still Life Painting is an important field of art and a proven tool for teaching artists of every skill level the disciplines needed to create successful, beautiful paintings.
    This Workshop will concentrate on many of the essentials of good picture making, with still life as the subject matter. Some of the principles discussed throughout the workshop will be composition, accuracy in drawing, colour and understanding form, edge control, lighting. The work and knowledge explored during the workshop can be interpreted to any subject of painting so it’s a great start to our year of workshops.
    Bring your own paints or use ours, you can use any type of paint you like on paper or canvas it’s up to you.
    We will provide the still life arrangement and we will also provide the lunch and endless hot drinks as required we aim to look after you so you can enjoy the art.


    Charcoal and Chocolate Valentine"s Special
    February 14th 9.45 - 2.15 pm

    What better way to treat yourself on valentine’s day than time spent with likeminded people drawing in charcoal and eating chocolate! Let us pamper you as you explore this fabulous tactile medium.
    Demonstrations and individual help will show students how to draw with beautiful line work; methods of placing tones for rendering images three dimensionally; design of realistic works with supporting abstract elements; and ways to draw with painterly approaches.  
    All materials provided as well as endless hot drinks and of course chocolate!

    Painting and Platters
    May 9th 9.45 - 2.15 pm
    Cost £45
    Discover the wonderful world of water soluble oils and the freedom and flexibility they give you as an artist. 
    This Workshop will explore the traditional method of using oils with the fat over lean principle, the use of a palette knife and then a looser and even semi abstract way of applying this versatile medium. The work and knowledge explored during the workshop can be interpreted to any subject, so you are welcome to bring your own reference material.
    Bring your own brushes and paints or use ours but please bring a large 2” flat brush, palette knife, baby wipes, apron, a small canvas board up to 10” x 8” and a large canvas around 40/50 cm.  Please bring something to transport home too as they will still be wet!
    We will also provide the lunch and endless hot drinks as required so you can enjoy the art.

    Skies and Afternoon Tea
    July 11th 9.45 - 2.15 pm
    Cost £45
    Working with watercolours we will be bold and brave creating big skies, moody ones and creating atmosphere using graduation, wet into wet techniques and the less conventional!
    Demonstrations and individual help will show students how to create something other than a pretty blue sky.
    Bring your own brushes and paints or use ours but please bring plenty of A4/A3 good quality watercolour paper.
    We will also provide the lunch and endless hot drinks as required so you can enjoy the art.

    Landscapes and Lunch
    September 26th  9.45 - 2.15 pm
    Cost £45
    ​Working in your chosen medium and from your own reference material we will look at how to translate your image of a landscape into a painting.  We will look at composition, balance, tone and colour
    Bring your own brushes and paints or use ours but please bring your own paper, board or canvas.
    We will also provide the lunch and endless hot drinks as required so you can enjoy the art.

    Mixed Media and Meze
    October 10th 9.45 - 2.15 pm
    Cost £45
    ​​Working with a variety of drawing media, inks and acrylics as well as textured mediums we will create a painting that is intuitive and exciting learning how to abstract and use colour to describe emotion.
    Let us help you find freedom in the creative process and discover your own artistic voice. This workshop will help painters loosen up, and create beautiful art! 
    We will provide all materials but please bring along a canvas board of between 11x14  and 20 x 16” There will be a Meze (a small selection of dishes) for lunch as well as endless hot drinks of your choice let us pamper you while you enjoy the art.



    Lunch and Learn Art Workshops Overview
    Our goal for the Purple and Grey Lunch and learn Art Workshops is to provide you the opportunity to explore new techniques and materials by bringing you professional tuition in an environment that is safe, comfortable, inspiring, and most of all - FUN!
    The Workshop Space
    The workshops are held in the lovely Tansley Village Hall. It is a spacious facility with excellent lighting. The park, besides the village hall is perfect for stretching your legs and getting some fresh air during a workshop.
    The Food
    Lunch is a catered selection depending on the chosen theme for the day, everyone is served the same but we are willing to work with all sorts of dietary restrictions, if we are notified in advance so that we have time to prepare alternate options.
    Throughout the day we will provide you with a warm or cold drink of your choice our aim is that you relax and we do the rest.
    What to bring
    We have some products such as watercolours, oil paints, acrylic paints (both heavy body and fluid), pencils, charcoal, pastels, canvas, pastel, watercolour paper, that you can use but we suggest you bring your own if you are more comfortable with that.
    We are Gold members of SAA and can order any product you require at members prices.
    If you have a hard time finding a product for a workshop, with advance notice, we are happy to try to find it for you and have it available when you arrive at the workshop.
    We recommend an old shirt or apron to protect your clothes a water pot and brushes as appropriate and a table covering if you have one.
    As stated above our workshop package includes lunch and unlimited coffee, tea, or drink of your choice.

    Each workshop runs from 10 am until 2.00 pm with a 1 break for lunch.
