I'm combing my pet and portrait weekends this year, so you can choose an animal, person, or do a double portrait of a family member with their pet.
A good portrait conveys so much more than an ordinary photograph. It seems to hold the essence and character of the sitter and even the artist's connection to the sitter. Join me for 2 full days of portrait pleasure and learn the secrets of capturing a likeness. We will look at lighting a portrait, colour values of different skin and hair types and for those who choose a pet, I'll show you how to capture the likeness of your own lovable pet?
Learn how to do fur, eyes, skin tones etc from a master portrait and animal artist.
I provide all the materials and equipment for the workshop. You just need to bring photos of your pet plus a black and white photocopy of your chosen pose (enlarged to approx A3 for use as a tracing guide). don't worry- I can advise you on the best photos to chose and how to get enlargements done.
Day 1: Getting the drawing down, colour mixing and under painting.
Day 2: Building up fur and/or skin textures, facial features and details.
Suitable for new artists and anyone wanting to try out or improve their use of acrylic paints.
