Question:

When painting still life items such as plants, shells and natural items with watercolours and ink, what type of paper should I use please. I usually use rough watercolour paper for my landscapes. I am wanting to buy a pad of sheets for the still life, to share in a group I go to, so what do you have which would be my best option for this. We will be experimenting by drawing with twigs and ink and doing the colour in watercolour or inks.

The type paper used is really personal preference. Many artist will use a Hot pressed paper for finer detail and of you are used to using a Rough paper when you may want to try A Not (Cold Pressed ) surface which has a little less texture than the rough but is not as smooth as hot-pressed.

We understand it is difficult choosing a paper type or surface to work on which is why we have put together trial pack which offer you the opportunity to try and test different paper brands and surfaces with out having to invest in a pad of pack of paper which you may not use.
