Memory and immediate environment both contribute to my artistic form of expression. My inspiration mainly comes from life, although occasionally I do work from imagination. I see artistic beauty in most things around me and enjoy creating an impression from my environment. My area of expertise is in landscapes, particularly of my homeland Scotland and the Norfolk and Suffolk area where I lived for several years. Besides landscapes, I have undertaken various projects and commissions including seascapes, portraits, still life composition, drawing from life and some contemporary work. I am primarily self taught, however through periods of study and experimental self-development I have progressed from being an amateur painter to a professional artist. Being around other artists is an important part of self-development.
