After practicing medicine (as a GP in Ramsbottom) almost all my life, In 1999,as I was approaching my retirement age, out of curiosity I enrolled in the evening class for drawing and painting at Bury Adult Learning Centre, not having any art training either in school or in later life. However, my initial curiosity turned into an obsession. In 2001, I retired from my full-time job and I devoted most of my time in attending art classes and drawing and painting at home.
I have been a member of Bury Art Society for about 12 years and have regularly exhibited my paintings at Bury Art Gallery and Museum. I received Milleneunnium Award in the Annual exhibition few years ago. My Paintings were also exhibited In Art Festival during last 3 years organised by Bury Hospice at Bury Art Gallery. My paintings (six soldiers) were also exhibitedat the Met theatre in Bury, since November 2015 until March 2016 organised by Bury Collective and local NHS group on the occasion of "Bury Remembers the First World War".
My work has covered almost all mediums, water colour, oil, acrylic, pastel and charcoal. I have done variious portrait paintings in the past. I am now mostly doing abstract type of painting in acrylic medium in varius sizes (small, medium and large). Sketching people with pen and pencil is also my passion.
