Painting 'plein air', Herman mixes traditional impressionism with a strong emphasis on technique. The film takes us to London. First, beside the Thames near Tower Bridge. Then a view down Fleet Street, with the sunlight producing strong lights and darks. Finally, we travel west to the Cotswolds, where Herman paints two views of the English countryside in summer.
