International Watercolour Masters – About The Event

A celebration of master artists and inspirational watercolour at its best!

Following the fantastic success of 2018, International Watercolour Masters is back for a bigger, better and even more exciting contemporary exhibition at Lilleshall Hall, Shropshire, May 2020.

The SAA is thrilled to be once again supporting the 2020 International Watercolour Masters Exhibition – a showcase for some of the world’s more renowned watercolourists. The 2018 show saw seventeen artists exhibiting – 2020 sees 39 artists from as far afield as China, Uruguay, Australia, Russia and the USA, bringing their work together under one roof for eleven exhilirating days of breath taking inspiration. Each painting exemplifies the atmosphere, drama and versatility of this alluring medium. Not only that, but there are a range of demonstrations, broadcasts, and lectures available to participate in alongside these remarkable artists.

The event is the concept of SAA PA David Poxon, an elected member of the prestigious RI (Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours) and the NWS (National Watercolour Society of America). We sat down with him after the overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to last year’s show and a plan was hatched for International Watercolour Masters 2020.

International Watercolour Masters 2020 is a much expanded show. A lush new venue was found, dates were set and David invited more of his Master painter colleagues from around the world to participate. The exhibition will be a truly unique event for anyone with a passion for amazing art. With a packed programme of activities, demonstrations, workshops, SAA art market and a masterful collection of paintings, all in a beautiful and historic setting. International Watercolour Masters is the must see show of 2020!
