Are the Derwent soft colour pencil the same as pastel pencils?

These pencils will work differently to pastel pencils as the Derwent Coloursoft pencils have a wax core and work the same way as traditional coloured pencils. They are among the softest range of coloured pencils which means you can feel how easily and smoothly they can be applied. Pastel pencils on the other hand are a much softer chalky pencil and can be rubbed and blended easily (depending on paper surface).
