Mrs Sally Bamber's profile

  • I live in the corner of a field in the Duddon Valley. I paint flowers in watercolour, loving the lesser know varieties, I enjoy watching them as they appear and grow, blossom and flower, and gently fade and fall to feed the ground through winter. I work with Elizabeth Shorrock to create lovely sketchbooks that sell at the Terrace Restaurant at Brantwood alongside my paintings. I tutor at Brantwood and my courses can be booked through their website. I paint more figuratively in oil, although flowers and still life feature more and more. I draw with charcoal, such a joy, I get my hands mucky, achieve really dark marks, put light back in with putty, it has a sculptural feel. I feel that drawing and painting are a form of meditation.
