M J Krechting's profile

  • Maureen is mainly self-taught after first attending adult education classes in Sutton, Surrey. The enthusiasm and encouragement of her tutor, Angela Williams, inspired her to concentrate on painting with watercolour for the last 20 years. She has participated in many shared and open exhibitions in Surrey and London at St. John's Wood Square and with the Society for Women Artists. During that time there were four solo exhibitions, the largest at Fairfield Halls, Croydon in 1998, and a number of "Open Studios" which were held annually in Carshalton. Following many requests from delighted visitors to her exhibitions and eager to share her enjoyment of watercolours with others, she conducted successful classes for 10 years at her home in Surrey, before moving to Ledbury, Herefordshire, in 2003. In 2004 her paintings were shown at the Barry Jackson Room in Malvern, followed by an exhibition at the Mayor's Parlour in Hereford in 2005. Maureen has since taken part in Herefordshire Art Week with an Open Studio in 2006 and a shared venue in 2007. She has also exhibited at the CourtYard with the "mini works" exhibition in 2005 and 2007 and in 2008 at the Weavers Gallery in Ledbury. Maureen enjoys time in her garden and exploring the glorious countryside around. Her paintings reveal her love of its beauty.
