My work has been commissioned internationally and has been featured on TV in the UK and USA
I have gained a number of regional awards for art projects and teaching.
For 4 years I ran a successful art course in Kefalonia. The course was featured in the 2009 March’s issue of the international art magazine ‘Artists and Illustrators' magazine. Summer exhibition 'Warships to Friendships', at the Hartlepool Art Gallery, 2014
I have always loved dancing but consider myself a ‘freestyle’ mover. Because of this I did a study of movement in art for my degree course at Sunderland, sketching dancers from the dance course at the university. The head of ‘Dance’ was so impressed that she commissioned me to paint the logo for the dance department. The main thing that I wanted to capture was the movement, energy and vitality of the dancers and as a result the paintings became more abstract and free flowing. This coincided with my growing difficulty to do detailed work due to arthritis in my thumbs and so my looser style developed. It must have worked as I have since been commissioned by a number of clients from around the world (including private dance studios) for paintings, sketches and logos.
Presently I am working on mixed media paintings with a new technique that I have developed. The work I am producing regards the complexities of human condition as shown through surreal expressions of faces illustrating such emotions as love, hate, greed, wonder, sadness etc, and usually with a story to tell. I call this style ‘Surreal Expressionism’. I have also completed a series of sculptures that were exhibited at the Hartlepool Art Gallery.
