Arwyn Quick's profile

  • Arwyn, recently, was selected to be a "Featured Artist" on the Winsor and Newton website.
Arwyn taught in Junior School (man and boy) for 35 years, specialising in art. Following early retirement, on health grounds, he has scaled down his artistic endeavours from stage set back cloths, for his school, to smaller canvases for himself. Many of these newer, smaller canvases actually sell. Arwyn has a passion for the colour, form and spaciousness evoked by the Derbyshire Peak. Using mainly acrylics, he employs the power of colour to reinforce the immediacy of those first impressions which hold our gaze. By accentuating form - particularly those elements caught in a play of light - he seeks to recreate the scene with a heightened sense of depth. Gradually, he has allowed the colour and forms to evolve as a means of portraying the raw forces behind the scene. As well as being derived from nature some of his pieces are now completely abstract or purely geometric in character.
Acrylics, Drawing, Gouache, Mixed Media, Pastels, Pencil/Charcoal, Watercolour
Abstract or Experimental, Flowers or Gardens, Landscape or Woodland Scene, Still Life, Townscape or Streetscene
