2012 Shortlisted for Artists and Illustrators Magazine 'Artist of the Year'
Andrew Jenkin is a self-taught artist, originally from Yorkshire now living in North Wales, who has been shortlisted for ‘Artist of the Year’ by Artist & Illustrators magazine and whose work has been featured in Welsh Border Life magazine.
He works mainly in watercolour, painting figurative and semi-abstract subjects, in particular landscapes, historical and folklore illustrations.
As an illustrator he has designed images for books, CD covers, retail displays, museum exhibits, tourist information panels and furniture upholstery.
He wrote and illustrated ‘The Curse of the Lambton Worm’, a book about the folklore of dragons in the North-East of England, and has also illustrated two books about Honley, the West Yorkshire village where he grew up, as well as ‘Tapestry’, a children’s fairytale written by Richard King and published by Silverhill.
Andrew also teaches watercolour classes in North Wales, and demonstrates watercolours to art societies throughout the UK.
He was Head Tutor at North Light Gallery Art School in Huddersfield until moving to Wales in 2010.
