I have been a keen artist since the tender age of 4 years. I was taught to draw by my mother who won many prizes for her figurative work and from whom I obtained many skills in drawing. I was also introduced to oil painting by my Grandmother who both exhibited and sold her work in galleries and she helped me complete my first oil painting at the age of 12. Since then I have been drawing and painting whenever I can given a busy lifestyle of work and family for many years. During this time I also attended many classes in Art & Design, Life Drawing and Watercolour along with much experimentation in different media using books for guidance etc. Thus I consider myself to be primarily a self-taught artist. I have a great love of landscape, gardens, fantasy art, life drawing and the sea or anywhere there is water. Art forms that incorporate detailed design, atmospheric moods or the human form greatly appeal to me. Thus I also dabble in digital art from time to time. Such that life is, things have changed dramatically for me over the past year and I have now decided to focus my attentions on turning my much loved hobby of art and craft into a career. This has been spurred on by my desire to encourage, inspire and share my knowledge and experience of art and craft by teaching others. I am also a keen photographer which complements my love of painting and many of my photos offer inspiration and in many cases used as reference and subject material for the painting workshops/classes as well as my own artwork. Besides teaching and holding workshops I am currently working on my own portfolio of artwork for up and coming exhibitions in 2009 / 2010 and beyond! I am also available and open to commissions & community projects e.g. I currently organise and run a local Creativity Workshop for those on GP Referral one afternoon a week at a local community centre.
