African Elephant in Graphite Pencils - 1 Day Art Workshop (UK)

Tuition FROM: Sunday, 20 May 2018 TO: Sunday, 20 May 2018

Tuition Type: Workshops

  • Description
Elephants have always been a very popular subject for many Artists as the texture of their wrinkles can be created so effectively in Graphite pencils. You will be shown how to correctly layer each grade of pencil for best effect and how to blend correctly, as well as learn about the importance of layering to create realism. This Workshop is available to anyone interested in Graphite pencils from complete beginners to those wishing to take their pencil work to the next step.

Graphite pencil portraits accentuate shape, shade and light and the Elephant is one of the most popular subjects for Graphite portraits for these very reasons. Although the Elephant may look rather complex as an Art study, within just a few easy stages you can create great effect. A day guaranteed to offer lots of helpful advice that will help you achieve a highly detailed piece of Graphite Art whether an absolute Beginner or an Intermediate and techniques learned that you can use in future pencil portraits.

As with all my Workshops, I begin a quick run through of the 'Do's & Dont's Checklist to ensure you will get the best out of the medium and then begin the first demonstration (there are between 5 and 6) Each demo helps to break the Workshop into bite size sections so you can work at your own pace and I will show you how each section is built up using a layering & erasing technique and which pencil grades you need to use and how best to apply these layers for best effect. You also receive a Workshop booklet that you can use as a guide during the Workshop and take home with you so you can finish your project at home if you wish, even use it as a guide for future projects.
1 to 1 guidance is always available between each Demo or you can use the booklet as your guide if you prefer to work alone. There is no pressure for you to rush your portrait, simply go at your own pace. These Workshops are open to anyone regardless of your Artistic abilities, even if you have never drawn anything since your days at school.
