Why does the gamboge push other colours away
All pigments have different characteristics, and this is what makes using them such fun. Gamboge is quite a 'heavy' pigment which is why it pushes the lighter pigments away whilst still wet.
It is always worth experimenting with you colour to see how they work when mixed with others as you can get very surprising results.
How lightfast is Brusho I wondered if the colors retain their vibrancy.
Brusho is an intensely coloured paint powder, which is water based and nontoxic but it does not have a lightfast rating and the supplier says it offers a good degree of lightfastness. Some colours are more lightfast than others - The colours have been tested by placing them in a sunlit window and some colours will fade over the months - these are the violets and purples which are often a problem in all mediums.
It is the unique characteristics of the pigments which makes this a popular product. Any lightfast issues can be overcome by framing the picture behind UVA glass or fixed using a UV spray. This also protects against dust, dirt, humidity and everyday environmental factors.
On the internet there are testaments from a number of Artists who have used this product and have not found any major issues in the colours fading.
I hope this helps.
