Subject: Animals

This beautiful butterly caught my eye in church - it was, unfortunately, dead and was lying just in front of the altar. After the service I carefully retrieved it and carried it home. The background had already been prepared - a wet-in-wet wash sprinkled with salt. The butterfly itself is painted in gouache.
