This Grade II listed octagonal former toll house, built c1778, still stands in the village of Ringinglow on the outskirts of Sheffield. It is built on the corner of Sheephill Road and Ringinglow Road. (This view is from Sheephill Road.) Ringinglow Road was constructed as a turnpike road from Sheffield in the 1750s, with two branches leading from Ringinglow, one to Chapel-en-le-Frith and the other to Grindleford and Buxton. The building on Ringinglow Road, in the distance, is the Norfolk Arms Public House, a coaching inn (also Grade II listed). This is how it looked before various alterations and extensions in 2006. There is a winter painting of the Roundhouse on my Home website. The Roundhouse was put up for sale in 2008 and has been bought by a private owner who is going to use it as his home.
Price: £85.00
