Back in the 40's and 50's, life went along at a much slower pace than it does today. Being born right at the end of the 50's, my 'memories' are based more upong stories I was told as a child than real life experiences but those stories accompanied by family photos combined to create very powerful imagery in my mind.
Quiet Moment attempts to portray that feeling of a much slower and 'spacious' era when people had time to absorb and reflect their lives and lives of those around them. In some ways, life was 'busier' back then but, sometimes, it feels as though we have become slaves of modern technology and there seems to be far less time for personal quiet moments; moments where your space is respected and you can indulge in favourite pastimes without the fear of interruption for an hour or so.
The end of another working day and some time alone with a book and pipe is the perfect 'quiet momment' for this gentleman! |
