| This piece is very closely based on a painting by Yorkhire master - Ashley Jackson. The "People's Painter" certainly inspired me in the dark days following my accident. I was (and still am!) in awe of his masterly depictions of the wild windswept Yorkshire moors. The genius of the man is encapsulated in his striking capture of this simple scene with an object lesson in the value of a strong composition. Whenever I go to his studio in Holmfirth I always seem to "just miss him" but one day I hope to be able to thank him personally for helping me to discover the joys of watercolour painting. In the meantime this tribute will have to suffice. |
