| "It is only recently that I first visited Midge Hall which is situated near Falling Foss, the famous waterfall. After being neglected for some years it is now occupied by a lovely family who provide excellent refreshment for all visitors as well as weary walkers! One of my great painting heroes is John Atkinson Grimshaw, the famous oil painter who lived in Leeds. he specialised in nocturnes. Moon light always gives an air of mystery and this was a perfect subject to try and capture that elusive quality." |
