I am not sure if this picture will qualify, as the dog is not ours, but belongs to friends of ours in Malta. I took quite a few photos at the BBQ and when I saw this one I just knew I had to paint it. It is a Maltese Hunting Dog called Poppy. The painting now hangs proudly in their home in Malta and they were over the moon with it.
I am not an animal painter normally, but can only paint something if it really inspires me. Consequently I suffer a great deal of the time with 'Painters Block'. So very frustrating !!!

PS. I have just learned that Poppy died suddenly and unexpectedly from a seizure recently. Her owners are naturally devastated and I am so, so pleased that they have the painting to remember her by |
