Has anyone else seen this programme on BBC? Would be interested to know what others think.

Personally, there seems to be a significant amount of pretentious twaddle talked about what 'fine art' is and what the pieces 'represent' and the 'meaning' behind them. I appreciate the point that photography and especially the growth of digital photography has meant for 'representational' art, but perhaps there is still a place for well executed (paintings) which are pleasing to the eye without having massively deeper meaning?

Yes I agree with you Steve. I've seen a coupe of episodes and also have loads recorded on Freeview but not got round to seeing anymore yet. There does seem to be this idea that a painting has to have some deep meaning for it to be of any value. If it looks nice is usually enough for me.
I think if you have to explain something to someone then it isn't working.
