What is the best way to use this : straight from the bottle or diluted?
What effects can be achieved eg would it help when painting a gravel path?

Hello Emmy! Are you talking about Granulation Medium to achieve this effect? Lets know exactly what you're looking for and I'll do my best to help.

Steve Many thanks for answering
The ones I have at the moment are
(Winsor &Newton')water Colour Medium' which I believe makes it easier to 're-touch' mistakes - maybe I've got this wrong?
Texture medium: It does say it can be put directly onto the paper but what difference that makes I've no idea.
I havent yet bought the Granulation medium is this the one that would give a 'gravel path' effect?
I'm sure I had read in the SAA magazine at one time a detailed description of the effects that could be achieved using the 'meduims' but I cant find it. Probably it was somewhere else I had read about them, probelm is right now I cant remember what could be achieved.
Thanks for offering yuur help much appreciate
Emmy

Hi Emmy! Thanks for prompt reply back to me! I've not used Texture Medium to date, so I'm not sure what it does or how it works (I don't mind saying "I don't Know!!) but the way that Granulation Medium works is somewhat Pigment Specific; it works well with combinations such as Blues and Browns, which make effective Grey shades, by "separating" the particles of pigment so that a "slightly scattered" effect is achieved, and this may lend itself to your Gravel Path.

Lets know how you get on, and I'm also interested in the effect you achieve with your Texture Medium.

Best wishes,

Hi Steve
I've discovered I had bought the granulation medium as well as the texture medium.
It may be a day or two before I get time to try it out but I will let you know how I get on.
From what you say I guess the granulation medium would also work well if painting 'sand'. Just wish I could remember where I read about all the ways you could use those products!
I also have the iridescent medium which I found very useful when I was doing the painting for my xmas cards very good for 'glittery' highlights.
Many thanks Steve for taking the time to answer.

Steve sorry for the delay in answering, The granuslation medium worked great. the texture medium??I've tried it straight from the bottle and also diluting it only difference I found it seemed to be easier to 'wash out' mistakes. but perhaps i'm not using it correctly. Just wished I could find that aricle that was printed about all the mediums and how to use them.
Considering writing to windsor and newton to find out if they have any other information on that.

Hi Emmy! Another thing you could try, though perhaps a little Blue Peterish, is paint on you gravel area, and sprinke a little salt on the wet watercolour and note the effect. Best to try this out on a seperate sheet!!

Good luck!
