Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a water colour or mixed media group in the Pocklington area. As most of the clubs that I have tried are made up of retired people they take place during the day. Does any one know of any evening classes or weekend sessions?

I am 44 and work full time in Leeds so I am struggling to attend the groups that I have found so far.

I would also love to find some painting pals in my area. Age and experience is unimportant as long as they are enthusiastic and young at heart.

Hello Buffy! Click on "Local Clubs" at the top of the Home Page and the look at the Locations down the right side of the screen. There are 3 clubs in East Yorkshire, so click on these and see if they are within distance for you.

We do a mixed media group on a Wednesday evening 7-9pm. We only started last November and are quite small but we are a very friendly lot and of different ages. I personally do watercolour. We may be too far away from you in Pocklington, we are based in south Leeds, but I see you work in Leeds so it depends really on how far you want to travel. I am over the Humber bridge in Lincolnshire, but can always keep in touch by e-mail. I have a studio and I am interested in Mixed Media and Abstract painting, but also do other types of painting. Occasionally feel isolated, as I live in quite a rural area, but not too far from Scunthorpe and Lincoln.

You would be more than welcome to visit the studio.

Hope you managed to find a group. The groups in this area are mainly watercolourists, and meet during the day.

thank you both for your replies. I havent managed to visit a leeds based club as it would mean hanging about in leeds for a few hours after work in order to attend a 7pm class. I have come across a member of your club though and you do sound like a friendly and helpful bunch.

I tried sending out a post to members near me to see if anyone fancied getting together but no one replied. I expect they were all very busy.

There is a group who meet at Dunnington. I think they are fairly newly formed but I did a workshop for them a month or so ago and they were very friendly and appreciative!
