After disastrous painting attempts, not liking anything I produce, changing between one medium to the next, enough equipment to open my own art shop, and still not producing anything of quality - I feel am spiralling downwards out of control. Wonder if there is anyone that can give some words of advice on moving forwards!

hi i am linda, my advice is keep going, keep the first painting/drawing you did, you will be able to have a look at more recent ones and you will see an improvement. i have been painting/drawing for about 5 years now, my first picture, my granddaughter of four could do better, but now they even resemble what i am trying to paint, sketching out doors if also a great help, if you get your drawing correct the painting just follows on. i have also just managed to find an art club to join, the help and advice i have received from one visit to the club is brilliant.

Hi Linda, Thank you for your advice. I actually help run an art group, but I think I need to 'relax' in different groups from time to time. I think you are right once the drawing is correct it will fall into place. I think I just need to be patient. Thank you.

Hi Linda, if you live within easy distance of Bath, you may like to give the Bath and District SAA group a go - we meet during the afternoon on 2nd and 4th Tuesday afternoons each month. There are about 20 of us and the group is very friendly.

Thank you for that information Cherryb, Bath is a little too far out for me sadly, shame your group sounds just what I would be looking for. Thank you anyway.

Sorry, you can't get to Bath, Lindy. Hope you find something to suit you soon.

Hiya Cherrybee
Where about's in Bath are you? I live in Cardiff but it's not terribly far to travel if I made the efort and I can visit a nice restaurant for an early dinner if I am over that way.

Sorry, Blade. I do not actually live in Bath and cannot be there for dinner. My art group meets in Bath during the day.

That's a shame there don't seem to be any art classes in Cardiff - by the way I wasn't offering dinner I was mearly saying that there is a nice riestaurant i use when i am in Bath and I would probably go there to eat - alone lol

P.S. I thought in your earlier message you said there was an art class/group in or near Bath? That is why I responded to the post about painting groups in that area - I noticed that you had said to another person that you were over that way and if they could get to a meeting it might benefit them. I will just have to see if there are any over Gloucester way or in the Forest of Dean area.
