I find that most inexperienced artists struggle more with drawing the subject than making an acceptable job of the painting side of things.
Whilst the "Painting and Drawing" Channel is excellent, perhaps slightly more time would help students if things like perspective and other difficult aspects of drawing were explained in some detail.

Graham,

We've have a number of upcoming drawing related programmes starting this week with Peter Woolley's "Drawing Towards Watercolour" and Trudy Friend's "Drawing Problems & Solutions". And in the next couple of weeks you can expect to see "Drawing and Painting People" with John Raynes and Colin Bradley's "Draw & Paint Cats with Pastel Pencils".

You'll find the full Painting & Drawinf Channel schedule over at http://www.thepaintinganddrawingchannel.co.uk/schedule.html

Thanks for watching!

I counldn't agree with you more. It really is amazing how many people paint but can't do a decent pre-painting rendition of their subjects. If only people would develop their drawing skills, their paintings would likely improve dramatically.
