I paint on deep edged canvasses, and would like to try canvas boards, but I have no idea how to frame them. Could anyone offer advice please. I paint abstracts using oil paints and like sizes around 61cms x 51cms and 91cms x 91cms. As I am self taught, I rely on books. When a painting by an artist is illustrated, it sometimes describes the picture as 'oil on board'. Is this 'board' the same type of canvas board that you buy from the art shop next to the deep edged canvas? Thank you Gay

I have some thoughts on what you can do, none of which are straight forward. As these will need detailed instructions you may wish to contact me directly rather than through the forum.

I have been framing canvas boards for some time now. Basically they are little different from framing canvas. They fit into a frame the same as a canvas but then need to be held in place with 'points' such as used with the Logan fitting tool or Fletcher Framemaster gun. . The points can be carefully hammered in if a gun is not available. To give a neater job, back the canvas board with a thin sheet of MDF or Hard Board and tape the seams.
