Having found my stretched canvas too heavy and bulky for painting on holiday, and having a good stock of high quality canvas, I now want to glue it to hardboard or plywood which I could easily carry in my pochade box. My problem is which is the best glue to use?

The technical division of Daler-Rowney recommend: Any type of PVA (poly vinyl acetate) glue. Although they carry a PVA medium in their catalogue, they tell us that any PVA glue available from a DIY store (such as Copydex) would be suitable since this will remain flexible when dry , avoiding cracking and damage to your canvas that may occur with the use of an alternative type of glue.
