Hello Juulzz! If we don't earn a living by our art, then we are Amateur. If we study art, then we are a Student. Perhaps the simplest way to separate the two is with the description;
If we paint for pleasure, not for a living, then we are Amateur, and if we paint as part of our studies, then we are a Student.

I guess it depends on whether Im entering a competition. lol. The competition I won classed a student as being up to two years.

I will just keep on learning.

My answer to this one is this - If you are undertaking a recognized study course, paid or otherwise, then you are a student. I have been painting for some years but do not make a living from my work, but I study the work of the masters and also living artist that I admire, this does not make me a student.

I am student and amateur painter .Any way i dont care . it´s not important , important is enjoy the painting. Sorry for my english.
I was started in the watercolour one year ago and i was learn tecniques of several english painters, i was purchased a lot of books and still i buy two books each three or four moths. i would like to be a student and amateur for the lifetime.
