I have been working with some Reeves acrylic paint that I bought ages ago and have now decided the time has come to buy some replacements. There are so many different types available now I was wondering what people recommended.

Hi Von! My particular favourite Acrylics are W&N Galeria; I find they work very easily with an excellent range of colours. I use nothing else but Galeria Titanium White, as this has the best brightness and opacity of any White I've tried before.

I hope this helps, but come back to me if you need a little more information.

Very best wishes,

Thanks Steve you have no IDE show helpful that is. I can get Galeria from SAA obviously but also buy individual tubes if I need them quickly as it is the one make the local art shop sells. Where I live it is really hard to get much in the way of art supplies.

Hi Von,

Any good quality acrylic paint will be fine. I recommend that my students start with Daler Rowney System 3 or W & N Galeria, which are reasonably priced & good quality. Whatever you do, do not use cheap paints you get from discount stores or car boots. I've had so many students bring these into classes and saying they are not getting on with them. They have so many problems with them and start to think it's actually them. It's not. Many of these cheap paints are loaded with all sorts of thinners and additives, they just don't perform correctly. As you get more confident you can at a later date move into professional quality colours. Student colours (like System 3) can still be used with professional colours, no matter what make. Hope I have been of some help.
