Hi i live in Malaga Spain but im English, if anyone wants to be a paintpal via E mail please let me know. Difficult to paint in the open in late July, August and Sep as it will easily reach 125 in the sun. and mid 90s in the shade, dam paint dries before it hits the paper, well almost.

Helen (aka - Twiglet)

I think the idea is for two people with hopefully similar styles (or not) to exchange views and ideas about each other's work. We bought a painting at a small exhibition 10 years ago and I managed to contact the artist to tell her we had and loved her work and I felt she had undercharged, it only cost £35 and the frame alone must have covered a large portion of that. She replied and for some time we exchanged ideas via email and she even sent me more of her paintings until we ended up with quite a collection (if the National Portrait Gallery are interested £2m should cover it :o))

I sent her some of mine that were nowhere near as good as hers and this continued for a couple of years. It wound up as she, I believe, had some undisclosed family problems and in the meantime I swapped computers when the old one failed and took a lot of personal info with it including her address, email, and phone number. So to my regret, we lost contact, but I hope she's still well and painting as it worked whilst it lasted.

There's 3 of her paintings as well as the original we bought on our walls even now and some more unframed. She always painted on Arches not and used DR artists' paints, I believe.

Cheers wolfman woody. I just wondered if it was something different to actually being on this forum, but it sounds the same except not as many people to share with. By the way, my name is Lynn, but Helen is a good name and one that I haven't been called before so I shall use that name just for today.

Terribly sorry, Lynn!

Getting confused (easy at my age), but there was a Helen posting a few days ago. I should look at folks' profile first....

I worked at a factory in Lincolnshire for three years before most of it closed down and I volunteered for the first round of redundancies. One of the gatemen said to me one morning, "I see you've escaped the first round of redundancies then, John." To which I said "No, I'm on the list. See there, .... Jeff."

"Ooops, I've been calling you John every morning for years now, why didn't you say before?"

I replied "At a previous company I was called Jack for 6 years so I can get used to any name, I don't mind."

So Lynn, for me , John, Jack or Jeff, is OK I don't mind, but Woody is my nickname to good friends. Mr Woodhouse to people calling at the door or who I don't know and 'Sir' to sales assistants and people on the other end of an unsolicited phone call. :o)

No need to appologise, not a problem. It makes me feel that I have jumped into someone else's life for a while. I too have been called lots of things. Before I was stricken with a condition that has made me hurt like hell I was a tiler and plasterer and lived and worked in a man's world, loved it and miss all the banter that went with it. I find it difficult to fit in these days, too many sensitive people about that take things the wrong way. So Woody whatever you want to call me will be taken as I am sure it is meant.
