Hi Brush2Strokes! It looks like you're using Oils, hence starting two paintings together; do you prefer to do this, or have you tried the fast Drying Alkyd Oil paints?
Whenever I demonstrate oils, I invariably use Water Thinnable Oils (which also dry faster than conventional oils) as I find that most art groups these days don't like using oils because of the odour - even if the likes of Sanodor is used.
I've never tried them, but I hear good reports about the Interactive Acrylics, as they behave a little like oils.
having said all of the above, I love my Galeria Acrylics!

Good luck and very best wishes,

thankyou steve

I have tried lots of different mediums, but still come back to oils .
not tried alkyd oils yet ,but i sometimes use acryiics as an under painting
but just love the creative bit of mixing my oils straight on to my canvas
when doing a background ,to a painting usually with my favourite music
playing in the background,.

Hi Brenda! I think that many artists paint to music and I'm no different. I have a huge mix of music; everything from Vivaldi to Transvision Vamp! I agree that there's nothing quite like oils for blending and mixing, but as I'm quite a quick and loose painter, I find Acrylic easy to blend on the canvas too. When I do Acrylic Demonstrations and Workshops, I use SAA (Watercolour) Practice Paper to keep my costs down as I do so many.
However, I still maintain that if Acrylics would have been available then, Leonado would have used them!

Good to hear from you and keep up the painting!

Very best wishes,

Hi Brenda, Very well done for getting commended and past even the first hurdle! I do paint from life as well as from photos, and the Liverpool paintings were all do from photos I took on one day, and as I've done a lot of travelling, I have cupboards full of reference photos.
I look forward to seeing one of your paintings reach the finals in a future AOTY competition.

Thanks and very best wishes,
