I am looking for a paint pal in or near Torquay, I have tried Members Near Me on two occassions and have not received one reply having indicated nine peole on the SAA location map. I have to say I was very impressed with the articles Art Helps and having lost my wife I thought I might have been able to find a like minded person to chat about his or her development within art, but it would seem that Torquay people are not interested in contacting anyone so is there anyone out there in South Devon willling to contact me via e mail Thank You Kelvin

Hi Silver Fox! I'm afraid I'm nowhere near you (Warrington in the frozen north!!), but as there are so many people using the Forum, I'm positive that you will make contact. perhaps this mail will inspire a reply from your area.

I enjoy Watercolour and Acrylics and run Demonstrations and Workshops around the Art Groups in my area.

Hi Kelvin,

I live in Exeter so not that far from Torquay. I do mostly pastels but have done some oil and acrylic. I have done a few watercolours but I do find the medium quite difficult.

I belong to 4 Art Societies/Groups in the Exeter area where we have monthly meetings with guest artists/speakers. Do you belong to any groups in your area?

How kind of you to contact me, I also work in pastels and have been on seveal courses to improve my work in this media, in fact I have two days every month until October on pastel courses, statring in May. I do belong to one small and friendly art groupe at Stoke Gabrial but other than that the others I have tried never made one feel welcome, in fact one I joined did not even welcome me as a new member even though I attended their weekly get together or five consecutive weeks. I would love to meet your groupe in Exeter so pleased keep in contact and perhaps we could meet for a coffee with you and your friends,

Hi Kelvin,

Sorry to hear about your experiences with some of the art groups you joined but I know what you mean. Have you been to any of the SAA's It's All About Art? We normally go to the one in London but this year a group of us are going to the Bristol one on 29th June and it is usually a very nice day out with lots going on and well worth a visit.

Unfortunately I work full time so do not get much chance to socialise with my art friends as often as I would like, but you are always welcome to come up to Exeter Art Society any time as a guest but I know it is a long way to come up for you.
