HI- all, I am a new member joined this week, & what a surprise i had when i got 2 packages in the post & the contents was brilliant i am well pleased with everything, the info on painting & the different tipes & eccesaries it made me think that i was coming in to somthing new as i first got an interest in school when i was about 9yrs old & at 14 i won a compotition in school for classes in art college, went for 4 months then gave up as i started courting & regret it not for courting but giving up art college but just kept my hand in now & again but things have changed so mutch its like starting all over again with all the different technecs, thats all for now i must have bored you all alredy, Sorry about the spelling;

Hello Derek, I just joined at the beginning of this month. I am in an art group and nearly all of them are members, dont know why it took me so long to join but so glad I did. Painting is a wonderful hobby - I just do it as a hobby - and I can sit and do some, or not as the mood takes me. If it makes you happy and you enjoy what you are doing, even to tearing up the ones you dont like, get cracking and enjoy. Margaret

Hi-,Margaret, I am not very good on the different methods but i have done some scetches in watercolour, one oil, 7 a couple in acrylic & years ago i did some in pastels but not got any favorits i just like puting paint on paper & what you do with it afterwards its up to you, but i would like to inprove my ability & learn different techniecs, Sorry about the spelling; regards Derek;

Don't worry about spelling, we can all read and understand what you are saying so no problems. I started with watercolour, not a good idea, can't get to grips with it. Tried Acrylics, not my thing at all, but just love pastels and tinted charcoal pencils - can blend and do fine detail, whatever I fancy. So, best of luck try everything and you will find your favourite. Margaret

HI-Margaret, I surpose you have to try all the different mediums (i think thats what they call it) I liked acrylics & watercolours but i will try pastels, I have some pastels from when i was in school + charcoal, & i am going to try landscape i watch them on the painting channel & it looks so easy but you can still go wrong in that i will let you know how i get on,derek;

If they are nice soft pastels you will be able to blend them - make sure you have some paper with a good tooth on it - mind you, if you happen to have a bit of wet n dry, very fine, use that as a starter. Good luck Margaret
