OK - I do pastel pictures on lightly sanded paper, wet n' dry, pastel paper and Pastelmat. I feel like doing something big and abandoned so to speak instead of totally detailed like I do at the moment. Would I be wasting my time, money and pastels trying to do soft pastel work on an acrylic/oil box canvas?

Any advice or warnings off it, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Margaret

Hi Redmags! If you for a moment consider how you would mount a pastel work, tou would probably say that you protect it with glass.
That being said, push the boundaries back!! Have a go with your pastels on a small canvas, and see how effectively you can seal it, or fix it, but this is something I've never tried, but as James Bond once said; "Never say never!".

Good luck and very best wishes,

Good points, never considered the protection question, but valid, very valid. Perhaps that answers the query about using canvas, but a small one to see, would be worth trying. Thanks for the advice. Margaret
