Hello all. I've got to the stage where I've given away some original watercolours to friends that like them, and also sold a couple too. It is still just a hobby at the moment, but everyone keeps telling me that I should be selling them.

My question is firstly - Is it better to try exhibit them, or sell online. Secondly, whats the best way to make prints of my work. I looked at Giclee printing sites, but the cost is quite a lot and it would mean selling a print at some cost.

Anyone who has experience in this, or who's been through the same dilemma, you advice would be appreciated, because at the moment I seem to be stuck in limbo. Regards Mick

Hello!

One way of selling paintings is to join an Art Group, as they usually all have at least one exhibition a year when work can be sold. I've never had much success trying to sell online, but you could try Create Online, who are based at Bletchley Park and Kevin James at Create Online is a good person to talk to, as their online portfolio is very wide (they do work for National Geographical).

The otherr way is to look for a local private Gallery and these, presuming the work meets their standard criteria, should always be interested in displaying new artists work.

You don't say which part of the country you are, so I can't offer any suggestions, but good luck!

Thanks Steve,

I live near Doncaster in South Yorkshire so only a short car journey to more 'Arty' areas. I'll look into the Art clubs route, and probably have a drive round one day to printing shops that display original artwork, and see if mine come up to scratch.

I'm still unsure of what method to use to make limited prints of my art though.

Regards. Mick.
