I have a beautiful photo of my grandaughter and her friend I wish to draw. One of the children has curly afro hair and I am unsure how to go about drawing this.

Hi Linda, I am not very experienced but for what its worth,,, I had to do the sort of hair you are talking about (a lot of years ago) and I remember following Lee Hammond and Anna Kullbergs books about drawing hair. It is not necessary to draw every hair but give the illusion that you have. However, I am talking about doing this with coloured pencil and this is probably not what you are going to work in.
