Has anyone got any good ideas about transporting oil paintings to exhibitions and posting to clients What is the best way to protect them from damage? Is bubble wrap the answer?

Hi Michael, I remember the first time I carried my paintings to an exhibition. It was an exceedingly wet and windy day and I was trying to hold a painting by its stretcher frame!!! Now, I use "canvas carriers". They are inexpensive and you clip two canvasses together yet hold them apart which is great for transporting paintings when still wet. If I have only one painting then I face it with a blank canvas for transportation. I personally don't like bubble wrap and prefer to use good quality brown paper. Kind regards, P.O.L

Most of my pictures are small enough to fit in a large suitcase. I use an old one, with the small wheels attached at one corner. I wrap my pictures in old towels, that my wife keeps back for the purpose. If I have to carry a canvas that's too big for the case again I wrap it in toweling and tie it with fabric tape. Hi, when I post my commissions, I use brown paper as the first layer, then bubble wrap, then cardboard and finally a box made to fit (if one is not found the correct size. The more protection the better, as you dont want your hard work getting there damaged. Hope this helps. Tracey
