I'm sure many of you selling your work on the net have come across the scams from Nigeria particularly, when the alleged purchaser offers to send you a cheque of a value far higher than the selling price. Well I've just had a new one, I'm a painting tutor and was asked by a gentlemen in Chile if I would teach his children, to paint and draw. who would be in England to learn English for 12 weeks. Times and dates arranged over the net and he then mailed me to say he was now in asia and would get his agents in this country to send a cheque thousands of pounds above my charges, because I was such a trust worthy person!!!!! I have now blocked his mail address. PLEASE BEWARE.

Hi Linda - this latest scam is aimed at all kinds of tutors, from dance, art, music etc. If something sounds too good to be true, it normally is.....apparently the catch behind this scam is they get you to quote them for 'x' amount of lessons then deposit too much money into your bank account. they ask for the excess to be refunded to them straight away. apparently their funds never clear your bank, but your payment to them does. Sue
