I wish the SAA would allow for reviews of the various DVD's they sell-it would be so helpful. I'd love to hear what DVD's or books or artists everyone loves and why. If you bought something that you did not like, I'd love to hear about that too.

I will start by saying that I love Jean Haines, Hazel Soan, Ann Blockley and Janet Whittle. They are my favourites. I like the way they paint, the way they teach and the camera angles are good-I can see what the artist is doing. Watching and listening to Hazel actually makes me happy. She is so exuberant and full of joy. I also like Richard Taylor and Arnold Lowrey as landscape artists. I love the way Richard paints and I enjoy his personality. Arnold Lowrey is just amazing to watch.

My most disappointing DVD's were not bought from the SAA.
Happy Painting!!!

Really good idea about reviews, especially as some DVDs or books suit different people. I love all Hazel Soans DVDs and can safely recommend them to anyone. For variety I love Splash of colour and for the magic of animals her South African one especially watching her paint without drawing. Her enthusiasm is infectious. If someone asked me my most read art book it would be Hazel's little '10 minutes watercolours' book. It goes everwhere with me. Another one that you didnt mention is Margaret Evans 'The Pen and Wash Course' There are two of these and they persuaded me to have a small pad and water soluble pens with me at all times. I would give these 5 stars for all standards of artist. Even my least favourite ones I feel I can learn something from them!
