The Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Art Society was founded in 1965. It exists to:

arrange demonstrations with experienced artists
provide information and assistance to all members of the society
arrange workshops for members
arrange outdoor painting opportunities
arrange exhibitions and publicise exhibitions organised by others.
As of 2011, membership numbers 70 and is still rising. Members meet on a weekly basis with a demonstrator on alternate weeks. The meetings are on Tuesdays from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. A tea/coffee break is held usually from 8.30 pm for about 15-20 minutes For 2010/11, the fee for membership of the society is £18 pa and the membership year runs from 1 October each year. Exhibitions

The Society organises a biennial exhibition of paintings in the Smith Art Gallery, Brighouse. There will be one in August/September 2011. In addiition exhibitions are arranged at local sites - Lightcliffe Golf Club, Milry's Café, and other venues. Members of the Society also exhibit their paintings at many local exhibitions.
