Widmer End Art Group meets on Thursdays from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon in Widmer End Village Hall. The hall is located in Grange Road about 100 metres from the junction with North Road. It is a tutored group (covering watercolour painting) and each course consists of three 10 week terms to mirror those in local schools. All abilities are welcome from beginners to those wishing to improve their techniques. The current cost is approximately £63 per term. Materials are not included in the price but there is no extra charge for all handouts (colour copies and written instructions) which are usually given out weekly. Mid morning refreshments are included in the price.

Information

Michael York took up watercolour painting as a hobby in the early '90s and after attending continuing education courses, became professionally involved in 1995.

He covers a wide range of subjects and enjoys the wet-into-wet technique which lends itself to the dramatic skies in his landscape and marine paintings.

He has taught watercolour painting to groups on holiday in Spain and has taken courses for Buckinghamshire CC Adult Learning. Currently he takes courses for the artsmart School of Art in Beaconsfield and he also gives tutorials and day workshops to art groups.

Tuition

All abilities - beginners and improvers, are welcome on this enjoyable watercolour course. Currently the group is full with 16 members attending so as to ensure a good level of personal tuition. However, if you are interested in joining, please contact me so that I can add your name to the waiting list.

Students with little or no experience will be given basic instruction on choosing equipmment and on techniques to produce satisfactory pictures from the word go.

Each session is worked around a particular subject, usually starting with an explanation and demonstration of the methods requires. A colour picture and written instructions are handed out so that students build up a portfolio for future reference.

For those with more experience, more advanced techniques will be taught, the aim being for artists to develop their own style and work on pictures of their choice.
