Biography
I was born in Newcastle-upon Tyne and lived there until 1973 when I moved to Doncaster. I am married with two grown up children, and have lived in Cadeby for the last eight years.
In 1997, I opened my own floristry business, The House of Flowers, at Sprotbrough, which I ran successfully for 6 years.
I have had a life long interest in art, in fact it was the only thing I ever wanted to do at school. Totally self-taught, I dabbled in oils, at 16 years old, painting various subjects for family and friends, but never really pursued it again until 2004.
In 2004, I attended a Botanical Painting weekend at Nuneaton with the acclaimed Botanical artist, Gian D'Brionne-Edwardes. I was hooked !! Thanks to her and her husband Roy, I have been given the inspiration and confidence to express myself in this art form.
I paint in water colours and I try to create the illusion that you can pick the flowers off the page and get the same pleasure as you would from looking at the real thing.
My aspirations for the future are to improve, to explore new materials, techniques and styles including other subjects such as landscapes and portraits.
