Biography

My name is Roy Brocklehurst and I am a watercolour artist living in Shropshire. Prior to here I lived and painted in Almeria in Spain where I sold to Spanish,Australians,ex pats and Irish.The only problem with painting watercolours in the hot climate was that, if you didn't work quickly, your brush would dry up before you had time to finish what you were doing.No such problem in Shropshire!I am always on the lookout for eye catching subjects to paint on my travels .I spent most of my working life as a Photo litho retoucher and was a member of the Society of Litho Artists, Designers and Engravers (SLADE)which had an annual art exhibition at Salford Art Gallery where I had one of my paintings displayed.Some useless information. I was born in Altrincham, Cheshire which was the town where Helen Allingham,the great Victorian watercolour artist spent 13 years of her early life,so I am in good company!
