Professionally I trained and worked as an English Teacher and have taken up painting in my later years.
I am a self-taught amateur artist who has been painting and selling pictures for the past 10 years. I have no formal training but have attended many courses and workshops, largely in the South of England and the West Country.
I lived in Surrey most of my life but moved to Lymington in the New Forest in Hampshire, 3 years ago where I found fresh subjects for my paintings.
I gain inspiration from sketching and photographing local scenery, particularly along the Solent and the Dorset coast. I paint mostly in watercolour and ink when depicting smaller scaler subjects such as birds and boats, and use acrylics for larger scale landscape paintings. With line and wash, I paint in a realistic style, but my acrylic paintings are in a freer style with emphasis on atmosphere and colour. I have been selling my pictures through local art society exhibitions and am now distributing pictures and cards for sale to a number of local outlets.
